The application site is highly accessible and benefits from close proximity to the strategic highway network (M60) and the A6017 Ashton Road. This minimises the need for much of the traffic, particularly goods vehicles, to use local roads.
A new parking area will be provided for users of Stockport Sports Village. Visitors will be able to drive through the development from Bredbury Park Way and walk the short distance from the car park to the Sports Village, helping to alleviate traffic issues on Mill Lane, Lambeth Grove and adjacent roads particularly during weekends and weekday evenings.
A detailed transport assessment is being undertaken in close liaison with the local authority’s highways department and National Highways. The applicant will ensure that the proposals will not result in a severe impact, and mitigation measures will be provided where necessary.
New or improved footways and cycleways will be created through the site, alongside improved bus services. Cycling will be encouraged via secure cycle parking, and showers and changing rooms for staff. Welfare facilities will also be provided for haulage drivers.
Adequate car parking will be provided on site, including Electric Vehicle charging facilities.
